Why this fic is awesome:

 

Well, Chef is one of my favourite films. I genuinely adore this fic. It begins with a newly-thawed totally depressed and isolated Steve not handling this new world he has landed himself in until the shawarma scene- Steve discovers a way to cope by learning about food and cooking which ties in the modern (using new recipes) and the old (food as a means of coming together with family) and in doing so Steve helps to turn the Avengers into a real family. And then Bucky.

Genuine, feel-good, angst followed by love and also cool descriptions of food from all over the world and about cooking and love with cooking – let’s face it food is pretty much universal as a language of families, love and homecoming.

Why this fic is awesome: After an incident with Amora, JARVIS finds himself in posession of a human body. No one is very happy about it.

I love this because the characters are spot on, Tony and Pepper’s relationship has a lovely depth to it and their relationship with JARVIS. It also challenges very visibly the common idea that AI would like or want a human body- it shows JARVIS as the Very Intelligent system he is struggling immensley with the confines, blind spots and general discomfort of being in a human skin, whilst also showing his response to things that are not so very bad- taste, smell. Overall really it’s a family fic with Tony and JARVIS at its heart.

Summary: Hindsight is 20/20, but when Harry’s last steps into the forest set him back further than he’d ever thought, he never realised how grateful he’d be to have Snape there to help too. Mentor/guardian fic, time travel, but not cliched.

 

Why this fic is awesome:

I’ve been on a glut of HP time travel fics at the moment, I can’t get enough of them and this one is definitely a little gem hiding behind a vague and somewhat blah summary. In this fic when Harry wakes up after his conversation with Dumbledore at the phantom Kings Cross he finds himself in the forbidden forest along with Snape. Both of them transported into Harry’s first year then go on the second great horcrux hunt while developing a close bond. It’s a lovely mentor fic, very in character in the way it is written and does something I’ve never seen before done quite in this way. Jolly good read.

Why this fic is awesome: THIS is a lovely lovely wish-fulfillment sort of fic in which after James & Lily’s deaths and Sirius’ imprisonment Remus Lupin wake up after the full moon to find himself in the busiers, noisiest safe-house you could imagine. Featuring an overwhelming and caring Molly, a host of all the Weasley children and Remus who – much as he might try to protest- Needs Some Looking After.
