Clint Barton’s Home for Wayward Mind Wiped Assassins by rougewrld

Title: Clint Barton’s Home for Wayward Mind Wiped Assassins

Author: rougewrld

Ship: Gen

Wordcount:6,506

Summary: “Where ever you were, whatever you did and whoever you did it for, it’s over. You need to pretend to be a person now, okay?”

Why this fic is awesome:

Combining comic book elements (of awesome Building Manager Hawkeye and Lucky aka “Pizza Dog”) with MCU. Following CA:TWS a guy shows up at Clint’s building. Clint helps him learn how to be human and in the process makes a friend who knits him socks and keeps challenging him to darts matches (and losing).

It’s a terrific, light but really well-written version of Bucky’s recovery from being the WS.

Why this fic is awesome:

Fics about bibliophiles are always a winner but what I actually love most about this is the way the author allows us to see snippets of Clint’s life over the years without ever sucking us in too deeply to simply rehashing backstory. Instead what we get is a quite a delicate dip-in-and-step-back approach which works really well- establishes the point (how Clint came to really, really like books and also kind of grew up along the way. It’s very sweet and, again, a topic I will assuredly revisit in future recs.
