Summary: When their attempts to recreate the super soldier serum failed, Hydra started trying to breed Captain America clones from his genetic samples. Unfortunately, the serum’s effects aren’t passed down genetically, so instead of an army of tiny Captain Americas, they get a bunch of tow-headed, asthmatic, allergic, immuno-compromised little Steves.
Why this fic is awesome: TINY STEVES. Okay so not actually tiny Steves but children of various ages with varying health problems all somewhat created using salvaged bits of Steve’s genetic material. A post CA:WS Bucky stumbles on them, rescues a couple and then has to try and track down the rest. Each kid has their own personality (some, like Alex more prominently featured than others) plus these brilliant flashes showing Bucky remembering things while trying to rescue and also feed, clothe and look after the kids as best he can.
Much fun. Mother hen Winter Soldier for the win.
